We create a positive, productive and performance-driven culture by investing in the development of our employees through leadership building and mentorships programs. In recognition for our employee development DrFirst has been awarded the 2015 Corporate Culture Award from SmartCEO for fostering a creative, collaborative workplace culture that has helped enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.
DrFirst has experienced tremendous growth since it was founded in 2000; with over 300 employees, over 40,000 active physicians in its network, contracts with over 700 hospitals throughout the United States, and partnerships with over 60% of the Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Health Information Systems (HIS) on the market. The breadth of our solutions and customers impacts the full healthcare continuum, which allows us to uniquely leverage opportunities for direct dialogue and cross selling. We are the solution of choice for industry giants like MD Anderson, Fresenius, Mayo Clinic, Greenway, MEDITECH, GE, gMed, Avera, Novartis, Symantec, and Experian.
Our success comes from our people, and we are committed to developing them both professionally and personally. We hold quarterly employee appreciation events by department, acknowledging above and beyond individual contributions with “On the Spot” awards, celebrate cultural events such as “Diwali” and “Chinese New Year”, invest in our future generation with “Bring Your Child to Work Day”, sponsor “DrFirst University” enrichment programs around such topics as “Goal Setting”, “Email Etiquette”, “Networking”, “Building Trust”, and “Diversity and Sensitivity” training. We conduct book studies of “Good to Great”, “Great by Choice”, and “Effective Executive” to help employees understand our culture and vision. Our CEO and executive leadership team do not believe in hierarchies of “haves and the have nots” – they lead with servant attitudes and encourage an open door management approach, interacting with all levels of staff daily and driving home the unique contribution of each member of the team towards our success.
We invest in our managers with leadership development and mentorship programs, such as our quarterly “Leadership Meet-ups”, and “DRIVEN to Leadership”. These programs seeks to mentor future leaders and current team members to mature their DrFirst DNA, building them into A players, and understanding our culture around Discipline, Respect, Impact, Vision, Excellence, and Navigating our company forward into the future. Many of our employees and executives are active in their local communities as well as in the Washington DC business and non-profit communities, holding leadership positions and giving back through their commitment, dedication and support.
We have a long history of successfully developing technology that meets the needs of a transforming healthcare landscape. Industry drivers for exponential growth include significant momentum in the hospital market related to compliance with regulatory standards for coordinated care, secure communications, increased productivity with greater number of patients and fewer resources, controlling costs and preventing readmissions. In addition, there are government mandates and incentives driving movement from paper records to electronic-based systems, as well as an industry focus on population health management and positive patient outcomes. Our future is strong, with year over year revenue growth of more than 60% during the past three years, all of which has been generated organically.
DrFirst was founded in 2000 by VPN technology pioneers and entrepreneurs. In the early years the Company received top honors year after year for being on the leading edge of medication management technology, and an Industry Innovator Award by the Medical Records Institute at the annual TEPR show (2004/05/06). We were also the key advisor to the DEA during development of the criteria for the interim final rule for controlled substance e-prescribing, and DrFirst was the first vendor to send a certified authenticated script through our EPCS platform. Our vendor agnostic solution allows for expedited time to market for all vendors to quickly support efforts to reduce prescription fraud, abuse, and neglect through effective control and monitoring of Schedule II-V medications.
DrFirst has also developed an easily implemented medication management solution to improve patient safety through real-time adherence, compliance, and population health management platform to give providers customized access to patient-specific information to promote positive health outcomes. This horizontal cutting solution securely and efficiently delivers critical messages at the right time, to the right person, in the right medium at all the points of encounter.
We have expanded our technology beyond our award winning medication management technology to develop innovations that bridge gaps in patient care. Our Backline secure communications platform is on the leading edge of driving transformation within the healthcare industry towards greater care collaboration, reducing hospital readmissions, protecting PHI, achieving continuity of care and accountability across a patient’s care team and stakeholders.
Today, DrFirst continues to hold the leading position as the nation’s #1 vendor for standalone electronic prescribing systems as recognized by Black Book in its 2013 State of the e-Prescribing Industry report. The report is based on a survey of more than 250,000 e-health technology users conducted by the international market research firm of Brown-Wilson Group. DrFirst’s software achieved the top overall client satisfaction score of 96%. Black Book also recognized DrFirst for being the eRx partner for eight of the top 10 finishers, including Greenway Medical. DrFirst has also received the Surescripts White Coat of Quality Award for the last three years. Additionally, the Company was listed in Lead411’s “2011 Hottest DC Companies” report for achieving 100% increase in revenues “over the past 2 years”.
