The Minnesota Health Information Exchange Partners with DrFirst to Exclusively Provide E-prescribing to Providers

The Minnesota Health Information Exchange (MN HIE) announces a partnership with DrFirst to provide seamless access to e-prescribing from the MN HIE provider portal. MN HIE will offer all of its provider clients and their patients the increased convenience, cost savings and safety of DrFirst’s award-winning, electronic prescribing solution, Rcpoia.
“Providing access through the MN HIE portal to DrFirst’s e-prescribing tool allows physicians to meet state regulatory requirements for electronic prescribing effective January 1, 2011 without any significant technology investment. The technology also supports Meaningful Use requirements and will enable providers to demonstrate compliance and qualify for incentive payments.” said Michael Ubl, MN HIE Executive Director.
MN HIE will allow providers to access Rcopia DrFirst’s e-prescribing application with a single click from the Clinical View of the MN HIE portal. This allows providers to view a patient’s clinical information – medication, lab and immunization history – then quickly create an electronic prescription for the patient.
Over 4.2 million Minnesota residents are currently represented in the MN HIE secure patient directory, allowing participating providers to exchange important clinical and administrative information not previously or readily available. This improves coordination of care and patient management. MN HIE current services include medication history, eligibility information, lab history, immunization history, and exchange of clinical care documents.
